Space Worms is a game where you steer a worm around a space arena, eat glowing pellets to grow and outmaneuver other worms. You can play it on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. We built it to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics services and no tracking.
What leaves your device
- Your nickname. If you set a name in Settings, it is sent to the game server when you play online so other players can see it on the leaderboard and above your worm. Names are limited to letters, numbers and underscores.
- Nickname check. When you set a name in Settings, and when you play online with a name, our game server sends just that name to Anthropic’s Claude API, which checks automatically whether it is appropriate to show other players. Nothing else about you or your device is sent with it. A name it refuses is not shown, and Settings asks you to choose another.
- Gameplay input. While you play online, your steering, boost and screen size are sent to the game server so it can run the shared arena.
- Connection quality. The game measures round-trip time, jitter, bandwidth and frame time and sends those numbers to the server so it can keep play smooth. They are not linked to you.
- Game Center scores. In the iPhone and iPad app, if you are signed in to Apple's Game Center, each finished round's size, survival time and kills are sent to Apple's Game Center leaderboards, for online and offline rounds alike. Rounds in which Full self driving played are never sent. Apple handles these scores and your Game Center profile under its own privacy policy, and other players can see them according to your Game Center settings. We never receive your Game Center identity or scores.
- Network requests. Like every internet service, our hosting providers see your IP address and standard request details when your device connects: Cloudflare runs the game server and Vercel serves the website. Their request logs, which can include your nickname, are kept for a short time for troubleshooting and then deleted.
In the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, offline play sends nothing about your game to our server. On iPhone and iPad, Game Center, if you are signed in, receives your scores.
What stays on your device
Your nickname, personal records, last round, whether you have watched the intro and settings such as volume and display options are saved only on your device. Deleting the app removes them.
What the server keeps
The game server keeps each arena's state in memory while it runs, including the names and moves of the players in it. To avoid checking the same name twice, each server instance also remembers in memory whether recently checked names were allowed, as the lowercase name and a yes or no answer. Nothing is written to a database, and all of it is gone once the arena or server instance shuts down. There is no player profile, history or global leaderboard stored on our servers.
Service providers
Cloudflare runs the game server, Vercel serves the website and Anthropic checks nicknames. They process this data only to run Space Worms for us, under their own published privacy and security commitments, which protect it at least as well as this policy does. None of them receives it for any other purpose.
Your choices and deletion
- Leave the name in Settings empty and no nickname leaves your device, so none is sent for checking either. In the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, play offline and nothing about your game reaches our server.
- Sign out of Game Center in your device's Settings and no scores are sent to Apple.
- Delete the app to remove everything it stores on your device.
- Arena data is gone when the arena shuts down, and request logs delete themselves within days.
- To withdraw consent, ask what we hold or ask us to delete anything sooner, email astrojams1@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days.
What we never do
- We do not sell, share or rent data.
- We do not use advertising or advertising identifiers.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Children
Space Worms does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Players should choose a nickname that is not their real name.
Changes and contact
